How should writers choose names for their characters?

Some writers like to use old yearbooks or pick a name from the newspaper. I like to think of old friends from special times in my life and play with those names a bit. For example, the lead character in my current screenplay is named Kathy Blowjob.

What are good things to do during long international flights?
