I don’t know even where to begin with this without sounding like a loser, but if you liked music and weren’t Josie and the Pussy Cats pretty, or a Joan Jett tough chick or super Punk like the CBGB crowd, suddenly on the scene was Kim Deal, looking like the rest of us and not giving a shit, proudly quirky,  playing bass in a band with the boys and holding her own. It was huge. And now, still, she’s still doing it — and with kids that she walks to school. JUST LIKE ME.

Except for the rock n roll part.
